Jermaine M. Davis, Ed.D.
Before receiving the prestigious College Instructor of the Year Award, Dr. Jermaine Davis worked in corporate America for IBM, Keebler Cookies, and Frito-Lay in the areas of sales, management, and employee engagement. Now, he’s an award-winning Professor of Communication Studies at Century College in Minnesota and a best-selling author. Dr. Jermaine has authored and co-authored 10 books including, Get Up Off Your Butt & Do It NOW, Leading with Greatness, and The NOW Factors of College Success. Dr. Jermaine was raised in a drug- and gang- infested area on the west-side of Chicago in a single-parent home. After the tragic loss of six family members to violent deaths, he enrolled in college to change the direction of his life. Dr. Jermaine holds a BA and a MA in Speech Communications, and a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership. He has been recognized by Cornell University as a Cornell Certified Diversity Professional (CCDP) through its Diversity Management Program – a designation held by less than 300 people in the United States.
Dr. Jermaine has taught 5th and 6th grade to homeless youth and academic achievement courses to first-generation high-school and college students throughout the United States. Recently, Dr. Jermaine produced the documentary, Breaking The Cycle, a film dedicated to helping individuals overcome the negative beliefs and behaviors that keep them trapped in destructive lifestyles. Prestigious organizations and institutions like 3M, Best Buy, Cornell University, the University of Minnesota, Wells Fargo, West Point Military Academy, and Enterprise Rent-A-Car regularly seek out Dr. Jermaine’s expertise in the areas of motivation, leadership development, teamwork, and diversity and inclusion.
