Scholarship Application Process
The Lead365 Foundation is committed to empowering collegiate leaders and professionals dedicated to developing student leaders and building capacity in student and higher education professionals. One of our main initiatives is to provide financial assistance for students, graduate students and professionals to attend the upcoming Lead365 Conference. We are thrilled to offer you the opportunity to apply for one $200 scholarship. This scholarship is designed to assist you in covering tangible, travel related expenses, including but not limited to: childcare, transportation to and from departure location, lodging, and other costs associated with joining us in Orlando. Scholarships are not intended to cover registration expenses.
Timeline and Cut Off Dates
Priority will be given to applications submitted prior to May 1. Remaining funds will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis. You must register for the conference by October 3 to be eligible for the Early Bird rate of $489 or for the Super Early Bird rate of $469 by June 1. The Lead365 Foundation Board will review applications; recipients will be notified by email no later than June 1. Upon proof of a non-refundable paid conference registration, scholarship recipients will receive their scholarship by mail in the form of a Lead365 Foundation check for $200. The cut off for all applications is October 1.
Integrity is central to effective leadership. Scholarships are intended to be the difference between someone being able to attend the Lead365 National Conference or not. We ask that you honor this intention and offer a one-paragraph explanation of your financial need in the application. Your application will be kept confidential. There is no cap on how many scholarships can be awarded to the same institution but you may only apply for one scholarship per conference. Scholarships will be awarded through a holistic assessment of the following factors:
- Demonstrated financial need.
- Proof of “status” as a current part time or full time undergraduate or graduate student, or professional staff member at an accredited institution of higher education in the form of a valid ID
- Proof of a non-refundable paid conference registration
- Commitment to developing as a leader or enhancing your professional development
- Motivation to attend the conference
- Character reference letter
The Fine Print
Life happens. In the event you are awarded a scholarship, cashed it, and registered for the conference, but become unable to attend, you are responsible for returning the $200 scholarship to the Lead365 Foundation so it can be awarded to another individual who has demonstrated financial need. Funds must be returned no later than December 1, 2017. Scholarships are non-transferable and cannot be held over for a subsequent year, yet you are encouraged to reapply. Your conference registration is transferable and can be applied to another year, however, in the unlikely event you fail to return the scholarship by the deadline, the $200 will be deducted from your paid registration, leaving an “amount owed” by those attending the conference.
